Setup and Prepare for a Subsite
If you are looking to setup a brand new subsite or corporate scheme website, this guide will help you to prepare and think about your options.
This guide will assume that you are using both a back office system (Enterprise) and STORE Enterprise website.
As a rough guide, here is the process that you should follow:
- Contact the Customer Focus Support/Sales Desk and request a new subsite to be setup
- Setup Categories and Products in Enterprise to be displayed on your specific subsite
- Setup Categories directly on the main website (to match those setup in Enterprise)
- Setup Users/Customers
1) Setup Categories and Products in Enterprise
If you have never setup a subsite or corporate scheme website before, typically you would have a Enterprise system that holds a database of generic products and categories. These are products are available to your worldwide customer base.
In order to segregate and manage subsite specific products e.g. customer branded stock, you must create categories and products with unique codes and attrbutes.
For the purposes of the following sections, we will setup categories and products for a specific customer i.e. 'COMPANY A LTD'
1.1)Setup Categories
Log in to Enterprise as a system administrator and navigate to Main Menu > System Customise > Categories - you will be presented with a list of existing product categories.
Here we will create a 'MAIN' category and 'PRODUCT' categories. A 'MAIN' category is a holding category for all product/sub categories.
Click the blue + in the bottom right hand corner to display the 'Add Category' window. Enter the details for the 'MAIN' category e.g.
IMPORTANT: The category code you enter MUST be unique. Take note of this code as you will need it later on...
Now create your 'PRODUCT(S)' categories. Click the blue + in the bottom right hand corner to display the 'Add Category' window. Enter the details for the 'PRODUCT' category e.g.
IMPORTANT: The category code you enter MUST be unique. Take note of this code as you will need it later on...
1.2)Setup Products
You now need to create your company specific products with unique product codes. The code does not have to conform to any naming convention but it is advisable that you include the company account code so that they can be easily identified.
Log in to Enterprise and navigate to Main Menu > Catalogues & Products
CLICK HERE to view the 'Add product' helpsheet. For subsites please ensure the following:
- Product is in the correct category
- Product is ticked as a 'Price List/Book Item'
A product must be in the customer specific product category e.g.
A product must be ticked as a 'Price List/Book' item. This is so that is will eventually appear on your website...
2) Setup Categories directly on the MAIN website
You must now create the product categories directly on your website. This is so that when products are uploaded, they go in to the correct category.
2.1) Setup categories on MAIN website (click to expand)
Log in to your MAIN website and navigate to Products > Categories
Click the 'add new' link and ensure you set the following:
- Title - description of the category. This will display on the website. This DOES NOT have to match the description you set in Enterprise
- Category ID - category id/code. This MUST MATCH the category code you entered in Enterprise
- Visible? - untick this option. This is so that the category does not display on your MAIN website
2.2) Display categories on SUBSITE (click to expand)
You can now login to your SUBSITE and show/hide the categories.
On your SUBSITE, navigate to Site Admin > General Setup
Scroll down until you see the 'Subsite Categories' area. Here you can search for the customer specific categories and then drag the category from the list to the ORANGE area...
3) Users & Customers
Users can either register themselves, or you can create the user accounts on their behalf. This can be either a manual process or via an upload of a spreadsheet.
All Users and Customers are stored on your MAIN website. See the following help sheets for how to create new Users and Customers.
