Internal Search Tracking for Google
This guide will help you setup internal searches for Google Analytics. Internal searches are usually for products on your website i.e. find out what your customers are searching for.
Website Setup:
- Navigate to the Integration > SEO
- Find the Google E-Commerce Tracking dropdown and select Internal Search Tracking or Both
- Save changes
Google setup:
- Visit http://support.google.com/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1012264
- Follow the instructions under Setting up Site Search for a Profile
- For step 8, the Query Parameter should be set to: "q,price_range,product_id,classifications" (without the quotes)
- For step 10, choose 'Yes' and set the 'Category Parameter' to "cat" (without the quotes)
Please remember that it can take up to 24 hours for new data to show up in Google Analytics.
